Throughout the school year we provide a variety of ways for prospective students and their parents to take a look at our school. These include the following:

  • Open House in early fall is an evening opportunity to meet students, teachers, and coaches and tour the school.  Representatives from each sport and fine art are available as well as teachers from every grade and discipline.
  • Welcome Wednesdays occur in October, November, February, March, and April. Welcome Wednesdays provide a unique opportunity to visit classes in session, tour the building, learn about the admissions process and dialogue with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Shadow Days give students the opportunity to experience a day at CCA!  Students are paired with a host who takes them through his/her schedule, introduces them to other students, and encourages them to ask questions and get a feel for life at Chapelgate.  Lunch is provided.

All of these opportunities can be scheduled through the online portal.

Application Process

We strive to provide the best experience for your child in all aspects of their education, starting right here at the beginning with the application. Our thorough application process is designed to ensure that CCA is the best fit for the development and well-being of your child. We allow mid-year transfers based on available space and the application process. Read on to see how to join one of the premier educational systems in the Baltimore-Washington area.

Lower School

Submit Application with Registration Fee

Submit a fully completed application with supporting documents, along with the $150 registration fee, through the online portal.  Space for the Lower School will be determined after the re-registration process concludes for current students on December 31, 2019.  The application process for new Lower School students opens on January 2, 2020.

Selection

Upon reviewing your completed application documents and assessment results, we prayerfully consider students for admission based on available space using the following priority:

  1. Returning students
  2. Siblings of returning students
  3. Children of Chapelgate Presbyterian Church members
  4. Other local students

Upper School

Submit On-Line Application with Fee

Submit a fully completed application with supporting documents, along with the $300 application fee, through the online portal. We offer both an early-admission process as well as rolling admissions.  For the Upper School, December 13, 2019 is the deadline for application for the Early Admission Decision Date of February 21, 2020.

Upper School International

Language Proficiency

We provide a rigorous and demanding college preparatory program for all our students. International students must demonstrate average or above average academic performance prior to attending CCA. International students must be proficient in the English language, and we require applicants to submit official TOEFL test results as part of the admissions process. At the beginning of the school year, CCA administers language and academic proficiency testing to determine which classes the student will take and whether or not the student will be required to participate in additional, intensive English tutoring at additional expense.

Interview with the Head of School

Students and at least one parent will participate in an interview with the Head of School via telephone or video conference.

  • Students are expected to speak in English
  • Parents may request the presence of an interpreter

Homestay Placement (optional)

Students requesting placement with a CCA Homestay family for the school year must submit an essay they have written in English describing:

  • Interests inside and outside of school
  • Personal character
  • Personality traits
  • Understanding of respect
  • Expectations for interacting with their Homestay family

Financial Aid

A limited amount of need-based financial aid is available for allocation to domestic families who have submitted applications for admission to Chapelgate Christian Academy (CCA) and to current CCA families whose students are re-registered. CCA desires to exercise wise stewardship by allocating financial aid in a manner that supports the Academy’s Mission Statement: “CCA exists to provide academic excellence in a gospel-centered environment, inspiring and equipping students in knowledge, passion, and faith.” For this reason, it is expected that students whose families receive financial aid awards will be contributing members of the Chapelgate community in at least one of the following areas: Christian Faith, Academics, Athletics, Fine Arts, Character, and Service.

Process

CCA utilizes the online service of Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) to process applications. FAST does not decide whether financial assistance will be given or how much to give; rather FAST provides a need-based financial aid analysis service which includes a recommendation of what a family should reasonably contribute toward tuition. All information from FAST is kept confidential. Results are reviewed by the Financial Aid Committee, which makes recommendations to the school based on the availability of funds.

As a reminder, you must reapply each year for Financial Aid. Once awarded, Financial Aid is not guaranteed to continue each year. To start the process, please do the following:

  • The application process is self-guided. You may navigate in and out of the program allowing you to partially complete an application and go back to it at another time by accessing the link and resuming the application.
  • Online e-mail and a 24/7 helpline is provided. We recommend that you do not call the school with questions. The FAST helpline will be better equipped to answer your questions.
  • There will be a charge assessed by FAST, which must be paid by credit card before submitting your Financial Aid application.
  • After completing the online application, you will be required to upload or mail your most recently filed tax returns for both state and federal taxes with all schedules and W-2s/1099s to:

Important Information

  • Financial Aid applications will be accepted from the first day of open enrollment until February 29th.  The pool of Financial Aid is limited so families should apply timely in order to have an increased chance of being rewarded Financial Aid.
  • The online submission deadline for all returning families is February 29th.
    Current year (2019) W-2 and 1099 Forms and prior year (2018) tax return must be provided at the time of submission.  Your 2019 tax return, if completed, can be provided instead of the 2018 tax return.  If the 2018 tax return is used, the 2019 tax return must follow the submission and be postmarked by April 15th.
  • All families must submit a letter as part of the FAST application which explains why they are requesting aid and to identify and describe the contributions their student(s) will make to benefit the CCA community.
  • Applications for financial assistance will not be considered until all requested information has been submitted.
  • A delay on your part in providing a complete financial aid package which delays our ability to evaluate your financial aid award, does not delay the start of your tuition payment obligation.
    Families new to Chapelgate, who are applying for admission to the Academy and wish to be considered for Financial Aid should apply as early as possible during the application for admissions process because they must be prepared to begin tuition payments by July 20 or within seven (7) days of admission/acceptance.
  • The maximum amount of Financial Aid that can be awarded to any family is 50%.  The Financial Aid awards are applied to the tuition payments only; all fees, including Retreat and Material Fees, are the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
  • The Tuition Deposit must be made in full and a FACTS account established prior to Financial Aid being applied to an account.
    Once Financial Aid is granted, it is continued only as the family receiving aid keeps up with their monthly payments.
  • Families who are behind in making this year’s tuition payments, should submit applications for aid for the upcoming year in time to meet the February 29th deadline.  This will allow them to be considered for aid for the following year.
  • Financial Aid is applied to a family’s account on a monthly basis beginning in July.  If a family has not completed their prior year tuition obligation, this would impact the monthly tuition payments required until financial aid can be applied.
  • In cases where the applicant is divorced, normally the income and assets of both parents will be considered in the Financial Aid Committee’s review if parents have joint custody.  If the custodial parent has remarried, normally the income and assets of the stepparent will be included in the Committee’s review.  If someone else is financially responsible for the student, that person should complete the Financial Aid application and explain his/her relationship to the student.

Your payment schedule is set by your school, and your financial institution will decide the time of day your payments are processed.

What happens when my payment falls on a weekend or a holiday?

Your payment will be processed on the next business day.

What happens if a payment is returned?

Returned payments may be subject to a FACTS Returned Payment Fee; watch for a returned payment notice for additional information.

How do I make changes once my agreement is on the FACTS system?

Changes to your address, phone number, email address, or banking information can be made at https://online.factsmgt.com or by contacting your school or FACTS. Any changes to payment dates or amounts need to be approved by the school and the school will then need to notify FACTS. All changes must be received by FACTS at least two (2) business days prior to the automatic payment date in order to affect the upcoming payment.

What is the cost to set up a payment plan?

If an enrollment fee is due, the amount of the fee is indicated when setting up your agreement. If applicable, the nonrefundable FACTS enrollment fee will be automatically processed within 14 days of the agreement being posted to the FACTS system.

529 Savings Plan

529 educational savings plans now also allow savings for K-12 tuition expenses. The distribution for K-12 tuition is capped at $10,000 per year per child for expenses incurred beginning January 1, 2018.
